Within the framework of official program of participation in the 7th Baikal International Economic Forum (BEF-2011) Viktor Vekselberg, Skolkovo Foundation President, on the 13th of September 2011, visited the National Research Irkutsk State Technical University (NI IrGTU).
The president of the Foundation familiarize himself with the university Technology park which comprises 19 knowledge-intensive businesses, regional innovative structures, business incubator, educational-scientific-and-production centers, university services and IT-structures.
The president was particularly interested in Technology park laboratories engaged in scientific researches of Skolkovo Foundation Clusters: biomedical technologies, environmental safety, energy-efficient technologies.
The guests were presented with projects and scientific-research opportunities of natural and technogenic environment monitoring laboratory, catalysis and organic synthesis laboratory, probe microscopy laboratory, electron microscopy and X-ray crystallography laboratory, plasma technology laboratory and laser physics laboratory.
Skolkovo Foundation President, Viktor Vekselberg: "The visit to Irkutsk State Technical University Technology park was very interesting for me. Today the IrGTU has a series of groundbreaking projects and advanced technologies many of which many have been already implemented in specific production and proved its competitive ability not only in the Russian market but also in Korea, Mongolia, Kazakhstan, RSA. I am sure that certain IrGTU project designers will become Skolkovo Foundation residents very soon. The things I've seen prove that I shall sign a agreement with IrGTU in the near future.
IrGTU President Ivan Golovnykh: It is a privilege for our university to start cooperation with Skolkovo Foundation - a project of utmost importance for Russian economy and science. I am sure that our cooperation will give a powerful impetus for creation of advanced technologies and innovative entrepreneurship development, attract new young scientists of no mean abilities.
We hope that Skolkovo project implementation will help to create and launch productive mechanisms which would provide development of innovative economy in our regions. National research universities may become reliable partners of Skolkovo wit regard to solution of this problem.
Following an excursion around the Technology park they arranged a meeting of Viktor Vekselberg with IrGTU students, and an animated discussion took place in the course of the meeting. The topics of the discussion were Innovation potential of Skolkovo and opportunities for IrGTU project integration into general process of Russian economy modernization.
Skolkovo Foundation delegation visit ended in a mind game for University students with the capital prize being iPad - one of the most innovative gadgets in our own days.

Skolkovo Foundation for Extension of New Technologies Development and Commercialization Center is a non-profit-making organization established on the initiative of President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev.
